Last night I was reading the data from the last official census in Malawi in 2018.
And one figure caught my eye: 61.7%. What’s this? It is the percentage of the population that recovers drinking water from the Boreholes. And the percentage rises to 65% in the southern area of the country, where we currently operate with Il Pozzo dei Desideri.
There are almost 11 million people (out of 17.5 million) who could not live without these wells. 2 OUT OF 3. An impressive number.
It is also and above all for this reason that we must continue to dig wells. Because they are, literally, VITAL.
