6th June 2018

Today we started to build the base of the third well, with the whole village, including children, who gave us a hand. In their own small way, seeing half-meter creatures carrying a single brick is always a very tender scene. By tomorrow we should finish it and then start the fourth and, for the moment, last.
In the morning I had a long phone call with the Indian who, in addition to apologizing in a thousand ways, has guaranteed me that next week, at least for another well, he will be able to get us the auger. Given the precedents and its unreliability, we have a telephone appointment tomorrow afternoon to confirm everything. Fingers crossed!
A day that is then spent among a thousand jobs at Agostino’s kindergarten and at its mill which is under construction. And with a pleasant surprise: the women of a village where we built a well last year delivered 4 huge sacks of wheat to Agostino as a thank you for what we did a year ago. Wheat that is already in the nursery pantry for the next children’s meals! The nice thing was that every woman in the village wanted to participate and kept us from letting us know that she was there. And in fact they brought the list of 108 women who collected and put aside the wheat, as you can see from the photo. Fantastic, this is Malawi too!
