17th June 2017

And for this year the last pipe has been laid, although the work in Monkey Bay remains pending. This morning we went up to 53 meters but we found no more water so the wise committee met again. In the end, we decided to keep the excavated well alive and this will be used for the construction of the Solidali nutrition center for Malawi. But that well does not have enough water to serve a structure like the one to be built and therefore the diviner will arrive next week who with his mega-scientific equipment will indicate the place to dig. On the phone he said he needs two days of work!I remain very skeptical also because the last time that their diviner showed me where to dig a well we dug twice at 60 meters without finding even a little humidity (on the fb page of the Pozzo dei Desideri there is a video of how that diviner works … see to believe!). In any case, we have nothing to lose, another hole attempt we have to do anyway and we might as well do it according to local customs. I’m sorry I can’t follow the work closely but it seems that this diviner has a lot of work and will not be available before next Tuesday. Agostino will take care of supervising everything. We still have to make another hole attempt and we might as well do it according to local customs.
It’s time to say goodbye with the whole team, our paths will split, kisses and hugs and see you next year. Thanks guys, I will miss you (in the photo the complete Band of Wells, only Kamanga left in Balaka to follow the masonry work of the wells is missing). Saying goodbye to Monkey Bay and its monkeys, we returned to Balaka and drove along the roads of Malawi which, as always, require attention to all its holes, cows, sheep and anything that walk on the roadside. Subsequently in Kankao to deliver all the medicines that I collected in Italy before leaving. Thanks again to everyone who donated them, they arrived at their final destination! Tomorrow will be a great day of celebration with the official inauguration of the two wells made in Chalenga and Rabissonni. The villages have been preparing for a few days to make this day for them and for us unforgettable. Malawi, tomorrow we will celebrate and finally rest.
