August 25, 2015
And today Il Pozzo dei Desideri ends successfully.
This morning I met Rita Milesi to whom I handed over the money to start the goat farm for her orphanage.
In fact, as I had commented to you a few days ago, having an advantageous price for the construction of the wells, money has advanced which will be enough to start two small initiatives within two structures that operate for children. One is that of Agostino Trussardi at the kindergarten in Toleza, where we financed the purchase of 50 hens, the other is the Rita Milesi Alleluya Care Center where we financed the purchase of 25 goats.
These two small projects were not planned before my departure but, as you have read these days, they were born along the way, after knowing the people who will manage them.
For this reason I am unable to document the success of these two activities but Agostino and Rita assured me that they will send me photos as soon as they have completed everything. What can I say … This adventure is over which will remain unforgettable for me and which thanks to the generosity of many of you has materialized.
As you know I like numbers and therefore I provide you with the final ones that must make us proud of what we have done.
Sum raised: € 10,320 Funders
: approximately 120 people / associations
Wells built (cost € 9,000): 2, in the villages of Jiya and Za’Mimba in the Balaka district. About 100 families and 500/600 people plus all those from nearby villages.
“Hens” project in the Toleza kindergarten (cost 250 €): 50 hens, which will feed the approximately 200/250 children with weekly eggs.
“Goats” project in the Namwera orphanage (cost € 1,070): 25 goats, which will feed and support the current 44 guests and also the future ones.
Gifts received (cost: many laughs): 1 chicken and 1 hen that are already in Toleza kindergarten.
Smiles and thanks: 1,000,000, all those who come directly from here to people I have known and also those I have not known but who will benefit from these small but precious initiatives.
Thanks again to all of you! Zikomo!
Matteo
