….And finally WATER!
After two unsuccessful attempts we finally made the decisive hole and brought water to the village of Jiya, in the district of Balaka.
The village is made up of about 50 families and today everything was expected but certainly not that we would have built a well for them!
In fact the village was not on our first list.
As soon as we arrived at the village, a woman, as soon as she saw the drill coming from afar and understood what would happen, she threw herself on her knees thanking us. A goosebumps scene!
After the usual lucky prayer, the work began. The ground was not the easiest because it gave way easily and therefore we often had to reinforce the walls of the hole to prevent it from collapsing.
Apart from that, everything went smoothly, we went up to 41 meters and found a fantastic water table of about 20 meters. A fairy tale! A lot of water for a long time for the whole village!
The women started singing and thanking. Me, on the other hand, after feeling the thrill of an African shower directly from the source, began to wash them and their children with the water that sprayed from the well.
Now that the water has been found, work can begin on the construction of the base and the final installation of the pump.
Once dried (and it took 5 minutes with the African sun) we moved to the second village where we will try to find water tomorrow.
The village is made up of about 50 families, also in the Balaka district.
Even for them it was a surprise and they saw the drill arrive with all the material that will be in their careful custody tonight!
In the photos you can see some moments of this unforgettable day!
